Where should you turn for information related to retirement?

It depends where you are in your career and what information you need.

There are many different organizations in Alberta that help teachers transition to retirement:

When you’re ready to retire…

ATRF will help you complete your pension application and forms, including

• reviewing the options for you to choose that best suit your needs,
• declaring your pension partner status (requires a Commissioner for Oaths that ATRF provides free of charge),
• certifying copies of proof of age and marriage documents and
• providing information on re-employment after pension.

ASEBP will help you determine your eligibility for continuing your health benefits, if you were previously covered.

ARTA can help you obtain health benefit coverage upon retirement if you were not previously covered by ASEBP or are over the age of 65.

So, you’re thinking of retiring?

ATRF can help you…

• calculate your pension estimates using your MyPension account on atrf.com or by having an ATRF pension counsellor send you pension estimates;
• learn about your pension options, the application process, transferring service from another plan and purchasing service (if you had a leave during your career), through one-on-one interviews and/or seminars.

ATA locals also host retirement workshops that provide information on

• ASEBP health benefit coverage after retirement (to age 65),
• ARTA health benefit coverage (after age 65) and
• will and estate planning.

In your retirement

ATRF will ensure your pension is paid to you through direct deposit.

ASEBP will continue to provide health benefits if you are under the age of 65.

ARTA members receive a variety of services, including health care, insurance, travel planning and social activities.
